Conservation
Efforts to conserve Mawson’s Huts began in the 1970s and reflected a growing awareness of the significance of the site, and historic places generally. These efforts also coincided with the growth of the heritage conservation movement and related professions.
While each step in the site’s conservation since then has achieved varying degrees of tangible results, each has kept a public focus on the place and paved the way for current co-operative efforts between the public and private sectors
