Leslie H. Whetter
AAE position: Surgeon
Leslie H Whetter was a 29-year-old medical graduate of Otago University, New Zealand, when he joined the Expedition.
He was surgeon at Cape Denison during 1912. With Bickerton (leader) and Hodgeman, Whetter explored the coast to the west of Cape Denison in the Western sledging party in the late spring and early summer of 1912–13.
Little is known of Whetter’s life after he returned to New Zealand in 1913. He is recorded as a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 1944–45, and died in the mid-1950s.
